About The Company

During the Tang Dynasty (618 to 907AD) an ambitious project was undertaken to plant over 41 million date trees in the city of Wudi, in Shandong province. Over the years this centre has served as China’s premium source of dates, becoming known not just for supply of high end dates, but also culinary tourism. From as early as 800AD, those dates were used to brew and distil date flavoured Baijiu.
During the revolution, a plan was undertaken to centralise ownership of the date farms and production of date related products. In 1957, a distillery was opened to create a single point of production for date Baijiu in China. Owned and operated by the Wang family, the distillery became a central part of the fabric of its community, winning multiple awards both locally and internationally. It is also home to the Date Baijiu museum.

Ahh! Embarrassment!!
Today the Premium Baijiu Company is owned and operated by Lu Wang and her wife, who brings their unique sense of design, personality and adventure to the Date BJ brand. More recently, Date BJ has begun to expand internationally, bringing the unique beauty of the world’s most popular spirit to new friends.
